University of Missouri defensive end Shane Ray had the best gam-e of his career Saturday against the UCF Knights. Ray compiled seven tackles, two sacks, four tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble in Mizzou’s 38-10 thrashing of the Knights. Ray now has back-to-back two sack games.

For his efforts, Ray was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week and is now tops in the SEC with 2.5 TFL’s per game and second in the conference in sacks per game at 1.67.

The award comes a week after Mizzou QB Maty Mauk was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Ray has been dominant this season opposite of Markus Golden and has seen his draft stock rise subsequently. He’ll have a chance to add to his season totals on Saturday when Mizzou takes on the Indiana Hoosiers.
