John Lackey Strong as St. Louis Cardinals Take Series

John Lackey‘s first start as a Cardinal was a welcome sign to Cardinal fans and something that hopefully is a sign of a great postseason run to come. Lackey went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.

it started off rough after Lackey gave up a run in each of the first 2 innings, but he calmed down and operated a very efficient quality start. After scoring 9 runs last night, the Cardinals only managed 3 today, but it came in a 3-2 win, and a big win, bringing the Cardinals back to within 1 game of the NL Central-leading Brewers. Matt Holliday continued his hot streak with another homerun, and Oscar Taveras added an RBI single in the Cardinals 3 run 7th inning. Trevor Rosenthal added his league leading 34th save. Now the Cardinals have to keep the charge going as they take on the Boston Red Sox to start next week.
