St. Louis native Ryan MacInnis, the son of Blues legend Al MacInnis, has been selected by the newly-named Arizona Coyotes in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft. MacInnis is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound center who played for the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League this past season and scored 16 goals with 21 assists. He previously attended Whitfield High School in St. Louis before moving on to intently pursue a professional hockey career.

There were rumors that MacInnis could be a draft target for the Blues, but they ultimately decided to pass on him in the first two rounds. He’ll likely need at least one more year in juniors before he’s ready to contribute to the Coyotes’ NHL team.
