Oscar Taveras to be Called Up Soon

Even though Randal Grichuk was called up and Shane Robinson was sent down, Cardinals fans may see one more move done by the end of the day. According to multiple sources, the Cardinals are considering calling up Oscar Taveras by the end of night or at longest the weekend.

The move makes sense considering that June 4th-June 11th the Cardinals are on the road at American League ballparks, which means there will be a need for a DH.  The Cardinals will be playing the Royals, Blue Jays, and Rays during this stretch before returning home for two weeks, but this week long trip could give fans a taste of the player that is being herald as the best hitting prospect in the Cardinals system since Albert Pujols.

So far this season Taveras is hitting .325 and has 7 homers and 40 RBI through 49 games. There are other options such as Stephen Piscotty, who has been on fire as well in the minors. But Piscotty is only in his third professional season, while Taveras is in his 6th season and is ready to be called up.

With Taveras being called up, room will have to be made in a log jammed outfield. It will be interesting to see who is next to be moved to Memphis.
