As the NFL Draft looms, the St Louis Rams are once again at the top of the draft. While the Houston Texans are debating whether or not they should take a quarterback, the St Louis Rams should know exactly who to take if available: QB Teddy Bridgewater from Louisville.

Here are some reasons why they should take Teddy Bridgewater:

1. A great insurance policy.

Sam Bradford has already been paid his guaranteed money. Not to mention the hit that Sam Bradford will make on the Rams salary cap. Teddy Bridgewater would be a great insurance option at a cheap price if Sam Bradford fails to produce.

2. A legitimate starter in the NFL.

Teddy Bridgewater is a legit 10 year starter in the NFL. The Rams haven’t had consistency at the quarterback position for quite some time. Teddy Bridgewater can make all the throws and in a division filled with great quarterbacks, the Rams need to find one in a hurry. Waiting for Sam Bradford to finally develop when NFL teams are getting better production out of rookies and 2nd year players in unacceptable. A joke commonly heard about the NFL is ” The NFL stands for Not For Long.” Well Sam Bradford has gotten plenty of opportunities and hasn’t done anything with it.

3. It will build support for a new stadium deal.

St Louis Rams fans know the situation, after the 2014 season, the Rams can move out of St. Louis and go to another city. Now that means the Rams have the leverage here but the casual fan in St. Louis sees what the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals are doing and are thinking “Wow, another last place finish, Awesome (end sarcasm)!!”

Hardcore Rams fans might get excited about drafting an offensive lineman but not the casual fan. What would get those fans excited is drafting a quarterback. That would create hope for the future and get all of St. Louis on the Rams side and politicians trying to get re-elected will find a way to get the deal done.

There are so many positives and very few, if any negatives for selecting Teddy Bridgewater that it is a no brainer.
