It’s Selection Sunday. All the hopes and dreams of NCAA Division 1 basketball teams will be decided today as the NCAA, NIT and CBI will select it’s teams for their postseason tournaments. Here is where we see the local college teams playing for the postseason.

Saint Louis Billikens

The Billikens are safely in the NCAA tournament. ESPN Bracketology has the Billikens in the St. Louis sub-regional as a 7 seed. I think that is a fair seed after the slide that the Billikens are currently on. I don’t think they will be place in St. Louis because even though they don’t play at the Scottrade Center, it’s still in the same city where they are located. I don’t see it happening.

Projection: NCAA Tournament.

Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers ended the season on a dud when it needed to sparkle to impress the NCAA selection committee. They have a date with the NIT. They could host an NIT tournament game but that is unlikely as many of the 1 bid league’s regular season champion lost in their conference tournament. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Tigers did host one game but I don’t think they will host a lot of NIT games.

Projection: NIT

Illinois Fighting Illini

The Illini ended the season on a hot streak and came so close to knocking off the Michigan Wolverines in Indianapolis. The Fighting Illini did have a disappointing season according to their expectations as a program. I do believe they are going to be either a fringe NIT team or they will be selected to the CBI (if the Big 10 allows them to).

Projection: CBI
