When the St Louis Blues made the blockbuster trade to get Ryan Miller in what might be only for the rest of the season, the reasoning behind this was to make the move to go farther in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Blues have usually been competitive in the playoffs, but they haven’t been to the Stanley Cup Finals since their 3rd season in the NHL. They wanted to reward loyal Blues fans that haven’t seen the St Louis Blues win a Western Conference in their lives.

The move seems to have paid off in the short term. Since Ryan Miller has suited up for the Blues, they haven’t lost a game. Ryan Miller has been a major key in those games having a 1.50 GAA (goals against average) for those 4 games. The Blues are also doing great on their penalty kill. In the last 5 games, the Blues have killed 94% of their penalties. On the flip side, the Blues have been able to convert 20% of their powerplays into goals. The Blues are doing everything right but will they when it matters the most.

Anaheim and Los Angeles are still the two biggest threats to the Blues and have their number whether or not it’s in the playoffs or in the regular season. They will likely face one or both of these teams in the playoffs and if they want to win the Stanley Cup, they must overcome them and win the series.   It’s crunch time for the St Louis Blues and they look ready for the battle.
