In anticipation of Spring Training, Arch Authority with preview every position group and give you an outlook for the 2014 season, today we will look at the Right Field position.

Projected starter: Allen Craig

Potential backups: Jon Jay, Shane Robinson

Prospects Pipeline: Oscar Taveras, Stephen Piscotty

Outlook:

Allen Craig is making the switch from first base to right field. This isn’t a shocking move that the Cardinals made, it’s just stops the pipeline of prospects for some time. Oscar Taveras was suppose to take over for Carlos Beltran after his two year contract expired. With Matt Adams bursting out onto the scene in 2013, the Cardinals made sure that their was a place for Matt Adams in the everyday lineup. So this creates a dilemma for the Cardinals. 162 games is a long season and Allen Craig for the past 3 seasons has spent some time on the disabled list so Taveras and Stephen Piscotty should get some playing time if Allen Craig makes it 4 season in a row on the disabled list.
