It is Monday and that means it is time for the Monday Blues. A weekly article in which we recap the St. Louis Blues week and what to expect moving forward for the next week.

Week Ending January 18th:

Blues record: 1-2-0

Overall record: 32-10-5 (2nd in Central division)

Recap

The Blues faced 3 playoff caliber teams this past week. The Phoenix Coyotes are on the edge of the playoffs and the Blues beat them 2-1. Then they faced off against the Los Angeles Kings. To no one’s surprise, they got blown out. To add salt to the wound, if the season ended today, they would have to play the Los Angeles Kings in the playoffs. On Saturday, it looked like they were going to get blown out but instead they were able to cut the deficit to 1 goal but never could recover as the Anaheim Ducks held on for the 3-2 win.

Moving forward.

The St Louis Blues are in Detroit tonight playing their old rival, the Red Wings. Then the Blues will spend the rest of the week in the New York Metropolitan area playing the New Jersey Devils, the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders. The Devils and the Islanders are bad teams this season so it’s important for the St Louis Blues to get wins in those games. The Rangers and the Red Wings are very good teams so I expect a battle in Joe Louis Arena and Madison Square Garden. Should be a great week for hockey.
