Shopping Over for The St Louis Cardinals?

It’s that time of the year again and I’d like to first take the opportunity to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  Just like us, the St Louis Cardinals have been busy shopping in order to fulfill their Christmas list.  As a Cardinals fan, I’d like to think that John Mozeliak and the Cardinals have a few more tricks up their sleeves in stacking their roster for the upcoming season.

However, the most recent transactions have led me to believe the opposite.  The St Louis Cardinals, in my opinion, have finished shopping for the season.  With David Freese to the Angels, the Cardinals have bolstered their defense with CF Peter Bourjos.  In addition, the Cardinals filled a glaring hole at shortstop with signing Jhonny Peralta.

Therefore, one must ask the question: What else do the St. Louis Cardinals need in terms of roster upgrades?  In my opinion, the answer is nothing.  John Mozeliak has done a great job filling the roster needs of the Cardinals, while managing to keep the Cardinals stockpile of young pitchers.  My only grievance is that we must wait while the Cardinals remain in their winter cocoon, looking forward to spring when we can finally see their true colors.

Now it is all about the bench. I could see them looking to upgrade the backup catcher position, add some insurance at second/third in case Wong struggles. You can always move Carp back to second.

I agree, the number one position I am concerned about going into the future is catcher. I think the Cards need to get a solid catcher in the upcoming draft. As far as bench goes, they got Jay, Kozma, most likely Taveras, and Robinson.
