The St. Louis Rams blow out the Indianapolis Colts 38-8 on Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis. Here are my thoughts:

– Wow. What a way to respond. The playoffs seemed like a long shot and it felt like the season was slipping away from the Rams but with an empathetic beatdown of the Colts, the Rams made sure to remind the NFL that this St. Louis Rams team can still play at a high level.

– Loyal readers of my blog, you’re welcome. I told you for weeks that Tavon Austin was so close to breaking off a huge game that would remind Rams fans why they traded up to get him. 2 catches for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. But he wasn’t done. He added a punt return for a touchdown as well.  314 all purpose yards for Tavon Austin. Now, he doesn’t have to always have games like this but just a reminder to NFL teams, yeah he’s that good.

– In my 3 keys to the game, I said short, quick passes would be crucial in this game. I was right. I also said that containing Andrew Luck would be crucial. However, I underestimated just how bad the Colts running game was. 18 yards on 14 carries and Andrew Luck was the top rusher. Trent Richardson has got to be one of the biggest busts of all time.

– The Rams now have a bye week before they host the Chicago Bears in Week 12. The playoffs are still a long shot at 4-6 but it feels good that the Rams were able to show the NFL world what they are made of. The Rams would need to win out and get a few break to even think about getting into the playoffs. I guess anything is possible.
