The 2013-2014 MLB offseason has officially begun for the St. Louis Cardinals. Here are the top storylines for the St. Louis Cardinals for the offseason.

Will the Cardinals resign Beltran? Will Freese be traded?

The futures of Carlos Beltran and David Freese are the two big storylines from the Cardinals in the offseason. Carlos Beltran will be a Type A free agent. Beltran will get some interest from AL teams looking for some DH power. The Yankees are going to be in play for Beltran but the Cardinals can resign him to a 2 year deal and moveOscar Taveras to center field.

As I said last night, David Freese is gone. Even though Freese is still with the team until 2015, I don’t think the offer the Cardinals will keep David Freese. The White Sox could be in the hunt for David Freese as well as other teams with not many options for teams at third base in free agency.

If I had to place a bet, I’d say both won’t be Cardinals in 2014.
