Tonight, the Cincinnati Reds will faceoff against the Pittsburgh Pirates for the NL Wild Card. So who should the Cardinals fans root for tonight?

The Case For The Pirates:

The Cardinals have home field advantage and in the 9 home games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, they are 6-3 in games played at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals have averaged 4.6 runs per game in the 19 games the Cardinals have played against the Pirates so it would be safe to assume that the Cardinals could put up the runs necessary to win the series.

The Case For The Reds:

The Cardinals won the season series 11-8 against the Cincinnati Reds, including a 6-3 record at home. They are 5-5 at the Great American Ballpark so if they needed a road victory, they could get it on the road. The Cardinals are also offensively strong against the Cincinnati Reds, the Cardinals scored 8 or more runs in 7 of the 19 games in the regular season.

So who should Cardinals fans root for tonight?

The Cardinals will know each of the teams very well but in a 5 game series, anything can happen. I will say that Cardinals fans should root for the Cincinnati Reds because of the regular season success that the Cardinals were able to have. I understand that October is unpredictable but I feel that the Cardinals have a better chance at beating the Cincinnati Reds without much trouble.
