The St. Louis Cardinals have the best record in the National League after defeating the Chicago Cubs 4-0 on Sunday Afternoon. With the sweep of the Cubs, the Cardinals lock up home field advantage throughout the NL Playoffs. The American League won the All-Star game in July so if the Cardinals win the NL Championship, they will not have home field advantage in the World Series.

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 on Saturday night opening the door for the St. Louis Cardinals to take home field with a win on Sunday. The Cardinals started Jake Westbrook out of respect to his contribution to the team and then was replaced by Joe Kelly who pitched 5.1 innings of shutout baseball. The Cardinals were able to win without Matt Holliday, David Freese and Yadier Molina. Carlos Beltran was only in or 4 innings.

The Cardinals will now play the winner of the Wild Card game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds. This will ensure 1 NL Central team will be in the NL Championship series. The Wild Card game will be played in Pittsburgh on Tuesday at 7pm central time.
