The Cardinals lost 2 out of 3 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here is my series recap.

The Pirates are strong at home

It’s tough to win on the road in the MLB, especially against top tier opponents. The Pirates took care of business. The Cardinals were able to salvage a game to at least stay tied with the Pirates at the top of the NL Central.

Best Pitching Performance: Joe Kelly.

Joe Kelly is red hot right now. He threw 6 innings only giving up 1 run on 4 hits winning his 7th straight decision. He might just be currently the best pitcher the Cardinals have.

Series Epilogue

The Cardinals lost the series but they still have a lot in front of them. 4 game with the Cincinnati Reds and then 3 more games at home against the Pirates. After those two series, the Cardinals play teams that aren’t going to the playoffs such as the Mariners, Cubs, and Nationals. This is a litmus test for the Cardinals heading into the home stretch of the regular season.
