The St. Louis Cardinals did not show much brotherly love to the Philadelphia Phillies as they swept them in three games.

Offense Reign King For The Cardinals:

The Cardinals have not missed a beat after the all-star break. After putting up 15 runs against the Padres, the Cardinals put up 17 runs against the Phillies. The Cardinals need to keep this offensive hot streak going.

Best pitching performance: Shelby Miller

Shelby Miller set the tone early on in this series by pitching 6 shutout inning en route to his 10th win of the season. It was his first start in 12 days so the rest was needed for Shelby Miller. If the Cardinals can afford it, they should mix in some off days from the starting rotation for Shelby. The problem is can the Cardinals afford that?

Defensive Play of the Series:

This honor goes to Pete Kozma when in the first game of the series shows his range to snag a line drive:

Offensive player of the series

Allen Craig

This was a tough one to choose but even though Allen Craig was hitless in Thursday’s game, he was the most consistent throughout the series. He had 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He was walked in every game of the series. That is important to the Cardinals offense.

Honorable mention: Shane Robinson and Pete Kozma.

Next series:

The Cardinals will now begin an 11 game road trip in Atlanta on Friday. The Cardinals will play the Braves, the Pirates and the Reds before coming home to play the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is an important part of the schedule and the Cardinals need to capitalize on it to extend their lead in the NL Central.
