Cardinals Win Their 60th Game Against The Phillies

The St. Louis Cardinals notched their 60th win of the season by beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 on Tuesday night. The Cardinals have won their 60th game of the season.

The Cardinals struck first in the bottom of the first inning with Matt Carpenter on third, Allen Craig hit a ball to second base. The Phillies got an out at second base but Allen Craig beat the throw allowing Matt Carpenter to score taking the lead 1-0.

The Cardinals then extended the lead in the 4th inning when Yadier Molina doubled to left field scoring Allen Craig. Then with men on 1st and 3rd with no outs and David Freese hit a single to right field, scoring Yadier Molina.

The Phillies scored in the top of the 7th inning when John Mayberry Jr. doubled to score Darin Ruf from first to cut the Cardinal lead to 3-1. The Cardinals got their 3 run lead back when Allen Craig singled to left field, scoring Carlos Beltran who hit a triple before his at bat.
