Cardinals Beat The Cubs 3-2 To Even Series

The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Cardinals have now even the series.

The Cardinals struck first in the top 1st when with Matt Carpenter on first, Carlos Beltran hit a ball to the right field corner for a triple to make the score 1-0. Then Allen Craig got his only hit of the game hitting a single to center field to make it 2-0 Cardinals. The Cubs answered in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Alfonso Soriano singled to center to bring home Luis Valbuena making the score 2-1. The Cardinals were able to extend the lead when Matt Carpenter hit a double to score pitch hitter Rob Johnson. The Cubs were able to cut the lead to 1 when Starlin Castro hit a home run to deep left center but the Cubs were not able to put up anymore runs.

Carlos Beltran and Matt Carpenter accounted for 5 of the Cardinals 7 hits and Matt Carpenter had a fantastic day defensively at second base.

The Cardinals play the Cubs tomorrow night as Lance Lynn will be the starter for the Cardinals.
