Tigers Stomp SIUE 43-3 On Senior Night

The Hearnes Center in Columbia played host to the 43-3 team duel between the 5th ranked Missouri Tigers and The Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville Cougars Wednesday night as the Tigers honored the 2012-13 senior class.  The Tigers, who are 20-4 all times against SIUE, won 9 of 10 matches including a forfeit win for the Tigers number one ranked Alan Waters at the 125 class who improves to 21-0 on the year.

The Tigers only loss came at the 133 class where Tiger’s Boomer Boyd, a Freshman, couldn’t top SIUE’s Patrick Myers in a 6-3 decision loss.  At 141 lbs, Nicholas Hicke, a senior, took a major decision victory from SIUE’s Brandon Brindley 10-2.   Trevor Wiest, the MU sophomore at 149 lbs, won by technical fall over SIUE’s Logun Taylor 25-9.  The Tiger’s number 16 ranked junior Kyle Bradley, won by major decision at 13-4 against SIUE’s Kyle Lowman.  Zach Toal, the Tiger’s 13th ranked junior, beat SIUE’s Adam Osmoe by fall at 2:25.

Number 11 ranked senior Todd Porter, wrestled at 174 for the Tigers and beat SIUE’s Jake Residori 17-5 in a major decision.   The Tiger’s senior Mike Larson, who is currently ranked 10, won by fall over SIUE’s Derek Nagel at 6:59 in the 184 lb class.  At 197, MU’s 11th ranked Brent Haynes won in a technical fall at 17-2 over SIUE’s Deshoun White.  The Tiger’s number one ranked senior heavyweight, Dom Bradley, closed out the evening earning a win in a 6-2 decision over SIUE’s David Devine.  Bradley’s was the only win of the night for the Tigers by decision as Bradley was unable to get those two extra points.

The Tigers welcome the NWCA Cliff Keen National Duals Midwest Regional this Sunday in Columbia.  Number 16 Purdue, number 20 Wyoming , Maryland and Missouri will all compete in the 4 team bracket tourney for a chance to compete in the finals in Minnesota the following week.  Following the Cliff Keen National tournament is the Mid-American Conference Championships in Buffalo, NY on March 10th, and then the NCAA National Championships March 21st in Des Moines, Iowa.
